Our Climate

One of the best things about living on the South Shore is experiencing all of the seasons. Each offers opportunities for both work and play – the more creative you are, the more you'll enjoy them!

WINTER (December 21 - March 19)

WinterWinters are typically mild which enables us to have lots of fun. During the Christmas season many communities hold outdoor parades and holiday celebrations. We do get snow, which is exciting for snowmobilers, skaters, skiers and toboggan enthusiasts, not to mention those who like a good snowball fight or enjoy building a snowman.

Temperatures average from -1 to -15 degrees Celsius (0 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit).

SPRING (March 20 - June 20)

SpringSpring is beautiful here as the trees begin to bud and grass starts to turn green. The South Shore has many species of wildflowers and gardeners spend countless hours preparing their garden beds and visiting some of the local garden centers to choose their favourites.

Temperatures average in the 10 to 15 degrees Celsius range (50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit).

SUMMER (June 21 - September 21)

SummerWe do love summer here – and who wouldn't? With so many beach options – you can swim in salt or fresh water that is clean and cool, build sandcastles and have BBQs with the family. There's lots of opportunities to rent a cottage – or you could just buy one and move here!

Temperatures average in the 20 to 25 degrees Celsius range (70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit).

FALL (September 22 – December 20)

FallEven though it marks the end of summer, our autumns on the South Shore are breathtaking. The evenings cool off and the leaves turn beautiful colours of red, orange and yellow. During the month of October there are lots of pumpkins, haybales and scarecrows to prepare for Halloween.
